The Gold Note PSU-1000 is an external inductive power supply designed to complement Gold Note’s 1000 Series electronics. It uses a five-transformer architecture, with four transformers serving the power supply and galvanic-isolation functions and one dedicated to the Dual Choke inductive filter. Gold Note’s design uses the inductive filtering to reduce electrical interference and provide cleaner, more stable power to the connected component.
The PSU-1000 incorporates five low-noise voltage regulators and a Dual Choke configuration for the positive and negative stages. Gold Note specifies more than 80 dB of line-noise rejection and more than 80 dB of common-mode noise rejection, with maximum output-voltage variation limited to 0.05%. The company states that the cleaner power supply is intended to help its electronics achieve greater dynamics, resolution, detail and realism.
The PSU-1000 is intended for Gold Note components that provide an external PSU input, including models such as the CD-1000 MkII, P-1000 MkII and PH-1000. For the PH-1000, for example, Gold Note specifically lists both the PSU-1000 and PSU-1250 as external power-supply upgrades.
Physically, the PSU-1000 is a substantial component, weighing 20 kg net and measuring 430 mm wide, 135 mm high and 360 mm deep according to Gold Note's current specification page. It is available in black, silver and gold finishes. A 1-metre PSU connection cable is specified by Gold Note.
