Hana MH

Higher-specification parts, extra-pure copper wiring, Delrin cartridge bodies, cryogenically processed materials, and threaded headshell fittings all equate to the deluxe performance from Hana M Series MH and ML moving-coil cartridges. Devised to more precisely fit into vinyl grooves and provide exceptional damping, the Japanese-made models extract information with archeological-like purpose and expertise – all while proving among the most linear, extended, dynamic, and consistent cartridges anywhere near their price class. The only difference between the models: MH is high-output (2mV) while ML is low-output (0.4mV).

Befitting its name, the hand-assembled M Series uses a nude Microline stylus that mimics the form of a cutting stylus and fits more precisely into the vinyl groove. The design also enhances tracking to capture the most delicate details with better frequency reproduction, imaging, and resolution. In the moving-coil windings themselves, high-purity copper wire offers greater clarity. ML features a new low-impedance generator for optimized performance with a broader range of phono preamps.

Injection-molded from Delrin, a high-tech polymer with improved mechanical characteristics for better resonance damping, M Series’ cartridge bodies reveal copious amounts of low-level information and extend the dynamic range. Metal threaded fittings for headshell-mounting hardware are also built into the body, offering easy attachment and superior mechanical interface for attention-getting bass and frequency response. The body also features an integral machined brass cap for constrained-mode layer damping. And its 9.5-gram weight provides stellar compatibility with a wider range of tonearms and turntables.

Cryogenic processing, which restructures metals at the molecular level, is especially beneficial in Alnico-based magnetic electro-motive circuitry (cartridge signal generator). Cryogenically treated M Series parts include the front yoke as well as center and rear components, yielding more a precise and controlled magnetic flux field for greater linearity and overall sonics.

In sum, Hana M Series has everything – and much more – offered by many more expensive cartridges. If you haven’t yet experienced the gorgeous sound afforded by Hana, there’s never been a better time.
