Golden Ear Technology Speakers
February 2, 2011, 11:31 am
The Sound Room has been in business continuously since 1974. In that time,
we have been responsible for introducing some of the most significant audio
products ever to the Vancouver Market. We are especially proud of introducing 2 of the most value high performance
speaker products to Vancouver – Polk Audio and Definitive Technology. Both of
these have gone on to become both customer and reviewer favourites.
We are now proud to introduce the 3rd – Golden Year Technology
Golden Ear Technology was founded by Sandy Gross and Don Givogue – Sandy was one of the founders of Polk Audio and Sandy and Don were the founders of Definitive Technology.
Their first product, the Golden Ear Technology Triton 2 has set the audio
world on its ear. Within months of its introduction, it has already won the
prestigious CES 2011 Innovations of the Year award and it was recently honored
as Sound and Vision Magazine Audio Product of the Year.
The Triton 2 is the result of many years of work on Sandy and Don’s part and is
a tall (48”) Tower loudspeaker with some very innovative drive units.
Details can be found here - http://www.goldenear.com/products/triton-two-tower
The highlights are the folded ribbon tweeter, the mid-range unit that can go
up to 20Khz and the 1200 watt powered sub-woofer
The audible results are staggering:
The speakers are very efficient, since the bass is self powered and it can be driven from a 10 watt amp.
The speaker is truly full range - it is capable of extremely deep, solid bass
performance and treble extension as high as 40Khz.
It produces a tremendous sound stage and tremendous depth and agility in the
bass, mid range is very easy on the ears, full of detail and yet never hard, treble
is easily the equal of any planar and can equal the performance of ribbons and
electrostatic drivers.
Overall, the speaker is one of a handful of speakers (at almost any price), that can span the full frequency and dynamic range of any kind of music and it’s equally spectacular on movie sound tracks.
As one reviewer has said:
“Golden Ear’s sleek speaker offers a rich, balanced sound and its imaging
abilities are nothing short of uncanny. Also, its built-in sub provides enough
bass to satisfy even a demanding bass-hound. I am not only amazed that Golden
Ear was able to deliver a speaker that sounds this good for $2800 per pair; I am amazed that speakers
can sound this good, period”
