3D or not 3D, that is the question!

When I talk to customers about a new top of the line TV, I always mention in passing, that it’s 3D capable , at which point invariably the customers inform me that they are not interested in 3D, therefore I should be showing them a top of the line 2D TV. Well, guess what, no such a thing! All the better panels are 3D capable, whether we like it or not! And is that such a bad thing? In the early days of stereo, all amps had a stereo /mono switch precisely for the same reason we have 2D/3D TVs. Stereo had exactly double the distortion of mono (two channels vs. one), and not only have we adjusted, but we have gone well past it, up to seven channels and more!
3D has forced video manufacturers to build better panel to accommodate this technology, it is a step in the right direction!
If only they would make the glasses less nerdy!
